Improving Your Ministry Skills

A Song for Every Generation

by Lynn DeShazo

I had a good heart-to-heart talk recently with a seasoned pastor about contemporary worship songs. This man is actually “pastor emeritus” of my home church. Brother Bill, as we call him, went to seminary at a very conservative school, was ordained a Baptist pastor, was deeply impacted   by the move of the Holy Spirit known as the Charismatic Movement, and ended up, among other things, on the faculty of Liberty Bible College in Pensacola, Florida. He eventually came to us and pastored seventeen years, then passed the baton of leadership onto our current pastor. He’s seen a lot of things over the years. So I was pleased to have him, as he put it, “bounce a few things off of you”.  Here are a few of the issues we batted around a while; see if you can relate to any of them.

Roar of Zion's Lion

by John Betts

There are two lions that are revealed to us in scripture. Revelation 5:5 states, (behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book). Grace Covenant Church - Mount Union

Danny & Jane Neff

www.gccm.org/mtunion

Grace Covenant Church of Mt Union Pa. was launched in Sept of 2003. The church is pastored by Danny and Jane Neff. This dynamic husband and wife team were on the staff of Grace Covenant Church in Lewistown Pa. Over 130 were in church for that first Sunday service. Since then they have averaged over 100 in attendance.

The church meets in a renovated ex-bar and restaurant that was an Elks club at one time. Through neglect the facility had fallen into disrepair but the church completely renovated it inside and out before the first service. The renovations stand as a prophetic type of the lives that have been changed since the churches beginning. Many people have found new life in Christ and had the lives renovated inside this building.

The church hosts a number of community outreaches including a monthly food distribution to over one hundred families. As a result they are making great in roads into this community of 2500 people.
